ANTHROPICAL is a concept created by the Aruban artist Alydia Wever who invited 3 visual artists and 3 Aruba dancers to conceive the artistic concept and present it at the XIII Biennial of Havana in Cuba. The costumes are created by a Dutch designer. The exhibition / performance represents the relationship between Aruba and the Kingdom of the Netherlands / Europe through four art installations and a video art projection. Each artist reflects, through his work, his own memories of his cultural repertoire. The objective is to explore the cultural roots and (re) connect with the Caribbean spirit. The concept I’m presenting is titled “Mi No Tin Palabra” / No Words Available”. Even before COVID-19th since March 2020, when it all started, all the museums on the island of Aruba were closed. Now more than a year, are still closed. It became obvious that there is a lack of interest to start the process of what is the new trend now called the “Creative Industries”. Furthermore, reference must be made to a very limited connection between the artists and the community, which from my point of view may also explain the inconsistency and lack of the visual arts subsystem in Aruba. Starting with the highest organ on the island who has no interest and no affiliation, whatsoever, to do some work on this very important matter.
